CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Four Moccasins marked personal bests as Florida Southern College women's cross country finished 15th out of 63 teams at the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
Sarah Zamot led Southern with an 18:17.1, enough for a 29th place finish an a personal record by nearly 30 seconds. Ysabella Guerra filed in second for the Mocs with an 18:44.1, cutting 18.9 seconds off her previous best while finishing 62 overall. Hannah Nelson crossed the line 92nd overall and third for FSC, finishing with a time of 18:59.7, a personal best by over 25 seconds.
Hannah Flemming (29:14.6, 119th) and Addison Cantor (19.50.1, 190th) rounded out the top five for the Moccasins. Madison Santore (20:26.8, 251st) also marked a personal best in the race, chipping 35.7 seconds off her previous best. Anna Brook Opalinski (20:12.4, 227th) and Amber Winton (21:34.8, 342nd) also competed for Southern.
Florida Southern finished with 460 points, enough for 15th overall, while Lee (Tenn.) finished in first with 90 points. Lee (Tenn.) was the only South Region squad team above the Moccasins with Union (Tenn.) and Saint Leo finishing in 18th and 19th, respectively.
This race marked the end of the regular season for the Mocs, who now turn to the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Oct. 26 in Boca Raton, Fla.
