Seven Moccasins Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Seven student-athletes from the Florida Southern cross country teams earned All-Academic awards as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2018 NCAA DII Cross Country Individual Academic Awards on Thursday. Josh Wagner from the men's team and Addison Cantor, Hannah Flemming, Aleksa Guerra, Hannah Nelson, Jolene Vergauwen and Sarah Zamot from the women's team join the 649 student-athletes who earned USTFCCCA individual honors.

To qualify for this honor student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade points average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championship meet.

In addition to the individual awards, both men's and women's teams were honored by the USTFCCA with Team Academic awards by maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and scoring at an NCAA Division II regional meet during the season. The women under head coach Stephanie Bylander attained a GPA of 3.6 while the men under head coach Matt Levassiur attained a 3.15 GPA.
