LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis suffered its first loss of 2019 on Wednesday afternoon, falling to North Georgia, 6-1. The No. 9 Moccasins (9-1) faced a tough challenger in the No. 13 Nighthawks (9-1), falling in doubles play and losing five out of six singles flights. The loss is the first for the Mocs since falling 5-3 to No. 9 Saint Leo in the opening round of the NCAA South Regional on April 28, 2018 and the first regular season loss since dropping an 8-1 contest to 2018 National Champions Barry on March 31, 2018.
No. 50 Lorena Rionda had a strong showing in the No. 2 singles flight, defeating No. 3 Vaishali Jorge in a three-set thriller. Rionda is now 7-1 in singles competition, just one win behind current team leader Magda Stepnik (8-1).
