MELBOURNE, FL - After shutting out Embry-Riddle on Saturday night, Florida Southern women's soccer goalie Tori Routt was named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week for October 15. Routt's selection is the first for the Mocs this season and the first in her career.
On Saturday night, Routt made her fifth career start in goal for the Moccasins en route to a 1-0, her first career victory. The freshman made one save on the evening in 90 minutes between the pipes. A late first-half goal was all the offense would need to gain an SSC victory over an Embry-Riddle team that came into the game in third place in the SSC standings.
In over 535 minutes played the Panama City, FL native holds a .750 save percentage (24 saves). She currently ranks 10th among SSC goalies with 24 saves and ninth with 3.43 saves per game average.
Routt became the second goalie for the Mocs to earn SSC honors in as many years. On Oct. 9, 2017 Helena Norrstrom earned SSC defense honors.
Routt and her teammates are back in action when they travel to Eckerd (Oct. 17) on Wednesday before closing out the home portion of their schedule with senior day against Palm Beach Atlantic (Oct. 20) on Saturday.
