McKew Tied for First; Mocs Third After Day One of Lady Falcon Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH – Redshirt junior Shannon McKew shot a first-round score of 72 to finish in a tie for first place after day one of the Lady Falcon Invitational here at the LPGA International Course. Florida Southern sits in third place as a team, seven strokes behind host Daytona State College, following the first round of action.

McKew shot a 36 on the front nine and matched the score on the back nine to finish tied with Josefine Garton of Seminole State Florida, which is in second place with a scored of 306.

Kit Creighton fired scores of 38 on both halves of the course to finish in a tie for fifth place with Daytoan State's Kaye Kwon. Emma Marlatt is tied for 13 after totalling a 79 (38-41) on the par-72 course while Kolby McWilliams is tied for 24th with a 81 score (41-40) and Colleen Panosian is tied for 38th at 87 (43-44)

Florida Southern's "B" Team is tied for seventh overall with a 330 first-round score. Britta Bernth leads that squad with a 79 score (37-42) to place tied of 13th. Abbey Williams is tied for 17th wih an 80 (42-38) while Tori Higgins is tied for 32 with an 84 (44-40). Rounding out the "B" squad are Madison Wetzel, who is tied for 38th with an 87 (40-47) and Marissa Boccabella, who finished in 47th place with a 94 (48-46). Emily Tofaute, playing as an individual, tied for 40th with a 88 total (43-45).

Round two will be played Sunday beginning at 9:39 a.m.
