    MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Southern College had 165 student-athletes earn a spot on the Spring Sunshine State Conference Comissioner's Honor Roll, the SSC office announced on Wednesday.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.

  • Florida Southern Finishes 18th in Final Learfield Cup Standings

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - Florida Southern College finished 18th in the final 2018-19 NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, it was announced this week. The Moccasins made a combined 11 NCAA postseason appearances this past year, including top-10 finishes in men's golf (third), women's basketball (ninth) and women's lacrosse (ninth).
  • Trana Lands on Two Different All-Region Teams

    Senior designated player Jessica Trana was voted to two different All-South Region Softball Teams this week by earning NFCA Second Team honors from the coaches’ organization, and second team honors by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association. She is the first Florida Southern DP to make the all-region team since Angela Williams did so in 2008 and ’09.
  • Trana and Higgins Earn Spots on All-Sunshine State Conference Softball Team

    MELBOURNE, FL – For the second time in her career, Florida Southern senior Jessica Trana has been voted All-Sunshine State Conference, and freshman Celia Higgins also earned a spot on the All-SSC Team in a vote of league coaches. Trana was a first team selection at designated player as a freshman in 2016 and again this year, and Higgins was a second team pick at third base.
  • Seniors Deliver Memorable Finish as Moccasins Close 2019 by Splitting with No. 2 West Florida

    TALLAHASSEE, FL – Playing in the final games of their college careers, Florida Southern’s senior class rose up Thursday afternoon and gave the Moccasins their biggest win of the season. Zierra Flodman’s two-run single highlighted a four-run third inning, and Kelli Gault emerged from the bullpen to protect a one-run lead with 3.1 scoreless innings as Florida Southern upset second-ranked West Florida, 4-3 in game one Thursday. In game two, the Moccasins got more than eight shutout innings from another of their senior pitchers, Aubrey Ehlers, but the Argonauts scored in the top of the ninth for a 1-0 win.

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College held its annual Athletic Academic Awards Banquet on Monday evening as it recognized its top student-athletes in an event held at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. More than 500 student-athletes, coaches, staff, and invited guests were in attendance.
  • Flodman Stars on Senior Day but Seventh-Inning Triple Gives No. 5 Florida Tech 3-2 Win over Moccasins in Home Finale

    LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern’s senior catcher Zierra Flodman could do no wrong in the final home game of her career Friday by going 4-for-4 and even throwing out two runners attempting to steal on the same play at one point. However, 5th-ranked Florida Tech tied the game twice after falling behind, and eventually won it on an RBI triple by Melinda Rule in the top of the seventh for a 3-2 victort over the Moccasins.
  • Dewith Collects Four Hits in Doubleheader but Florida Tech Wins Twice; Series Finale Set for 10:00 Friday Morning

    LAKELAND, FL – Jadin Dewith had a pair of two-hit games for Florida Southern Thursday night, but No. 5 Florida Tech snapped a scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning of game one, and snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fourth inning of game two for 8-0 and 7-1 wins over the Moccasins. The second game was stopped in the top of the seventh inning by rain, but is official, leaving the teams only one game to complete the series on Friday. That game has been moved up to 10 a.m. in an attempt to beat more rain that is expected by early afternoon.
  • Softball Alters Schedule for Florida Tech Series with Likelihood of Inclement Weather on Friday

    LAKELAND, FL – Florida Southern and Florida Tech have agreed to alter their schedule for the upcoming series at Chris Bellotto Field due to the likelihood of inclement weather on Friday. The Moccasins and Panthers have moved the start of Thursday game up to 5 p.m. with the potential of playing a doubleheader that night as time permits. The plan is to then play a single game, weather permitting, on Friday beginning at noon.
  • Moccasins Nearly Pull Off Incredible Comeback in Game Two, but PBA Holds on to Win Both Ends of Saturday Doubleheader

    WEST PALM BEACH, FL – With a three-run first inning, Palm Beach Atlantic went on to a 5-0 win over Florida Southern in game one Saturday, but a 5-0 Sailfish lead in game two was barely enough to contain the Moccasins. After falling behind 5-0 again in the nightcap, the Mocs scored four times in the top of the seventh and had the winning run on base before falling 5-4.

    LAKELAND – Kristen Beacham got the Moccasins through some tough spots early, Jenna Weldon came through at the end, and Lindsey Wilson provided a late-inning spark for the offense, to help give Florida Southern a 4-0 win over Saint Leo in game one of their Thursday night doubleheader. The Lions took game two, 8-0 in five innings to give the teams a split.

    LAKELAND – College softball has changed dramatically in the last decade or so, with teams scoring and hitting more than they have at any time in the history of the game. But for one night at least, Florida Southern and Saint Leo seemed to stepped back in time for an old-school pitcher’s duel that brought back memories of some of their classic battles from years gone by. Florida Southern’s Aubrey Ehlers and Saint Leo’s Auria Mounts took a scoreless game into extra innings where the Lions scored an unearned run in the top of the ninth to take a 1-0 victory.

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern and Saint Leo have are moving the upcoming softball series at Chris Bellotto Field to Wednesday and Thursday to avoid expected inclement weather over the weekend. The teams will now play a single game on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and a doubleheader on Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Buccaneers, however, took both games, 8-6 and 8-5, despite big days by the Moccasins’ Jessica Trana and Zierra Flodman.

  • Mocs Come Back Over and Over Again to Earn Split with 9-8, Extra-Inning Win; Embry-Riddle Takes Game One 5-3

    LAKELAND, FL – Saturday afternoon’s doubleheader between Florida Southern and Embry-Riddle was one of those “where to begin?” days. Where it ended was the Moccasins winning in extra innings on a sacrifice bunt by Makayla Deuberry, combined with a throwing error that allowed the run to score all the way from first. That only happened after the Mocs rallied from three different two-run deficits behind two-run homers from Maddi Conner and Meghan Sexton, with a whole lot of Jadin Dewith all day long. Eventually, both teams got wins in their final at-bats, with Embry-Riddle taking game one, 5-3, and Florida Southern taking the nightcap, 9-8 in eight innings.
  • Hop’s Early Hitting and Late Pitching Stops FSC Comeback as Embry-Riddle Pulls out 5-3 Win over Moccasins

    LAKELAND, FL – Down by four runs in the third inning after a big hit by Embry-Riddle right fielder Lisa Hop, Florida Southern fought back and put the Eagles in a couple of tough spots in the latter innings, only to have Hop push the door closed as a relief pitcher with the game on the line. The Moccasins (12-16, 4-12 Sunshine State Conference) got two extra-base hits apiece from Makayla Deuberry and Celia Higgins, and two key contributions from Jessica Trana, but it was not enough to prevent Embry-Riddle (15-12, 7-6) from pulling out a 5-3 win.

    CLERMONT, FL – Makayla Deuberry and Shannon Reilly put together perfect games at the plate Tuesday and sparked Florida Southern to an 8-4 win over St. Michael’s, before Aubrey Ehlers handcuffed American International in game two and gave the Moccasins a 2-0 win and a season sweep of their four games in Clermont this season.

    LAKELAND, FL – Batting around in the bottom of the first inning, and scoring seven runs in the process, Florida Southern rolled to a 7-2 win over Minnesota Duluth in game one of their doubleheader Monday afternoon, but the Bulldogs earned a split after scoring all of their runs in the third inning for a 3-2 win in the nightcap.
  • Wilson Delivers in the Clutch, but Rollins Still Pulls out Extra-Inning Win to Take Two from Florida Southern on Saturday

    WINTER PARK, FL – Aubrey Ehlers put Florida Southern in position again with her pitching, and Lindsey Wilson did the same with a couple of late-inning hits in her return to the lineup, but Rollins College was still able to pull out a 3-2 win in nine innings to complete a sweep of Saturday’s doubleheader and the weekend series. The Tars won game one earlier in the day, 8-0.
  • Rollins Scores Twice in Bottom of Sixth to Down FSC Softball Team 2-0

    WINTER PARK, FL – Aubrey Ehlers gave up just five hits to one of the Sunshine State Conference’s top hitting teams Friday night, but Rollins used three singles to score twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Florida Southern 2-0 in the series opener.
  • Mace Sparks Florida Southern in 5-2 Win Over Hillsdale After Chargers Win Game One 6-2

    LAKELAND, FL – Alex Mace continued her red-hot hitting with two hits and two RBI, and the arms of Mace and Samantha Prosser from the outfield played pivotal roles too as Florida Southern earned a split with Hillsdale by winning game two of Tuesday night’s doubleheader 5-2. The Chargers won game one 6-2 with four runs over the last two innings to offset two earlier RBI by Jessica Trana.
  • Big Sixth-Inning Rallies Lift Lynn to Pair of Come-from-Behind Wins Over Florida Southern

    LAKELAND, FL – With Florida Southern ahead by three runs in game one, Lynn University put four runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning to get a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Moccasins, and then pulled off a similar comeback in game two with another four-run sixth that gave the Knights an 8-4 victory. The Saturday sweep allowed Lynn (13-16, 4-5 Sunshine State Conference) to take the series after Florida Southern (8-10, 4-8) had won the opener on Friday, 5-2.
  • Five-Run First Gives Florida Southern 5-2 Win over Lynn in Series Opener

    LAKELAND, FL – A five-run first inning highlighted by Samantha Prosser’s two-run triple got the Moccasins off and running Friday night and it was more than enough for Aubrey Ehlers. Though Florida Southern did not score again, Ehlers held Lynn to just one earned run before getting seventh-inning help from Kristen Beacham as the Mocs opened their three-game series with the Knights with a 5-2 victory.
  • Softball Doubleheader vs. Tiffin Cancelled

    LAKELAND, FL - Tonight’s Florida Southern softball doubleheader against Tiffin University has been cancelled due to weather and unplayable field conditions. The games will not be re-scheduled. The Moccasins will return to action this weekend, March 8-9, for a three-game series with Lynn. Game one is Friday night at 6 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

    ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. – Playing for the first time this season after missing the first month due to injury, Jenna Weldon made her first hit count for a win. Coming off the bench as a pinch-hitter in extra innings, Weldon delivered an RBI single to give the Moccasins the lead, and Aubrey Ehlers pitched six scoreless innings of relief to give Florida Southern a 4-2 victory over Eckerd in the finale of their three-game series.
