Quinones Becomes First-Ever Moc to Compete at NCAA Track National Championship

BRADENTON, FL - Evan Quinones became the first-ever Moccasin to compete in the NCAA Division II Men's Track and Field Championships here Friday at the IMG Academy. The junior competed in the first of three preliminary heats in the 800-meter and turned in a time of 1:56.60 to finish seventh in the heat.

Running in lane 5, Quinones stuck with the pack through the first turn before falling behind. The Saratoga Springs, NY native posted a time of 56.49 at the 400-meter mark in race and completed the second half of the race in 1:00.11. His heat time was 15th of the 19 runners.

His time of 1:56.60 is the seventh fastest time in school history. Quinones now owns the top seven times at Florida Southern, including the school-record mark of 1:51.02 in winning the USF Collegiate Invitational on April 22 of this season.
