Quinones Records Fourth Fastest 800m Time in FSC History

TAMPA - Evan Quinones came in second place in the 800-meter at University of Tampa Track Classic here Friday with a time of 1:55.20 in the 800-meter which is the fourth fastest time in Moccasin history. Quinones finished just under three seconds behind the winner, Saint Leo's Niclas Bez, who turned in a 1:52.61 time.

Also on the 800, Jesse Hudson placed 25th with a 2:17.00 while Yan Perez came in 26th at 2:17.14.

In the 5000 meter, six Moccasins competed. Festus Kemboi led the FSC contigent turning in the sixth fastest time in FSC history with a 14:58.11 to come in third place. Dean McGregor was 11th with a time of 15:26.11 while Christian Beauchemin was 36th at 16:44.28.

The final three Moccasins competing were Risley Mabile, who was 42nd with a 17:23.22; Oswaldo Zapata, who was 43rd at 17:23.24; and Brandon Williams, who was 44th at 17:31.51.

In the only other event, Florida Southern participated in was the 1,500 meter wher Cody Van Natter, who was 11th at 4:17.53.

The Moccasins will compete next at the USF Bulls Invitational March 17-18 in Tampa.
