Quinones Wins 1000-Meter at the Embry-Riddle Indoor/Outdoor Track Challenge

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Evan Quinones got the 2017 Moccasin men's track season off to a fast start by winning the 1,000 meter run at the Embry-Riddle Indoor/Outdoor Challenge here Saturday at ERAU Track Complex on the campus of Embry-Riddle University.

Quinones winning time of 2:36.86 is the second fast 1,000-meter time in the program's history, just :01.59 behind Jason Patchett-Gillis' school record time of 2:35.27 set in 2010. The junior finished just under four seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

In the 3,000 meter run, sophomore Dean McGregor took third place out of 26 runners, finishing with a 9:12.07 time followed by junior Oswaldo Zapata who came in 11th at 9:47.43

The Moccasins return to action on Feb. 18 with runners competing in the Embry-Riddle Last Chance Meet in Daytona Beach and the UNF Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville.
