Perez and Quinones Lead Way for Mocs at UNF Twilight Invitational

JACKSONVILLE - Three Florida Southern Moccasins competed in the University of North Florida Twilight Invitational here Wednesday evening at Hodges Stadium.

Wednesday's meet was the final scheduled meet of the spring track season for the Moccasins.

Junior Evan Quinones (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) competed in the 800-meter run on Wednesday as he posted a time of 1:52.69 to finish eighth out of 18 runners. Unattached runner Andrew Dawson won the 800-meter run on Wednesday with a time of 1:48.27. 

Earlier this season, Quinones ran a provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run of 1:52.38 at the Florida Division II Intercollegiate Invitational held at Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach. The 1:52.38 was a new school record in the 800-meter run. 

Along with running the 800-meter run, four Moccasins competed in the 5,000-meter run on Wednesday. In the 5,000-meter run, senior Jose Perez (Haines City, Fla.) ran a time of 15:28.66 to place fifth overall, while freshman Everett Wagner (Key West, Fla.) recorded a time of 16:21.33 to finish in 11th place. Two other Mocs, junior Anthony Pollizzi (Fort Myers, Fla.) and freshman Casey Brady (Lakeland, Fla.), ran in the event, but did not finish.
