TAMPA – Florida Southern competed in two races at the USF Bulls Invitational here Friday at the University of South Florida Track Complex. The Moccasins ran in the 400-, 800- and 1500-meter races.
Florida Southern had two runners finish in the 800-meter race with sophomore John Bryant placing 22nd with a time of 2:01.30 while senior Josh Sessums came in 28th with a 2:08.76 time. Quamel Prince of Tennessee State won the 800 breaking the ribbon at 1:49.36.
In the 1,500-meter race, sophomore Dean McGregor was the Moccasins' top finisher, taking 12th place with a time of 4:07.94 which is a record time for an FSC freshman. Senior Jose Perez turned in a time of 4:14.38 to finish in 20th place. Senior Zach Hall was close behind in 23rd place with a time of 4:18.74 and sophomore Christian Beauchemin was 30th with 4:30.24 time. The final Moccasin participant was freshman Casey Brady was 32nd with a time of 4:32.28.
Louisville's Ernest Kibet won the 1500-meter race with a time of 3:56.35.
The Moccasins will compete next in the UNF Spring Break Invitational in Jacksonville.
