LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College men's tennis earned the upset on Wednesday afternoon, defeating New Jersey Institute of Technology in a close 4-3 match at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The No. 30 Moccasins' (7-9) win over the Highlanders (4-9) is the first over a Division I oppenent since defeating Bethune-Cookman on February 1, 2013 in an identical 4-3 scoreline. The Mocs are also now 4-2 this season in one-match decisions, most recently falling to Sonoma State on Sunday and defeating Ferris State at home on Friday before Wednesday's win.
Danny Thomas won his second-straight match by defeating George Svensson in the No. 5 singles flight in two sets, improving to a perfect 2-0 in the No. 5 flight. The Moccasins debuted two new doubles duos with Brian Pham and Thomas winning in the No. 2 doubles flight and Victor Ahlbeck and Hikaru Nagoshi winning in the No. 3 doubles flight.
