Mocs Stumble on Day Two of Mercer Gridiron Classic

MERCER, GA - It was a rough day for Florida Southern as each of singles competitors were defeated in winners' bracket play on day two of the Mercer Gridiron Classic played here Saturday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.

In the Buccaneers Singles Division, Laurent Mailloux fell, 7-5, 7-6, to Troy's Jiaqi Duan. Laurent then lost in three sets, 2-6, 6-4, 11-9, to Point's Austin Atin in the singles consolation bracket.

In the Jets Singles Division, Miguel Alvarez-Hevia was defeated, 6-2, 6-2, by Mercer's Fernando Guardia while Oscar Soderlund was topped, 6-2, 6-3, by Troy's Andre Baldo. 

In the Raiders Singles Division, Blaine Miller dropped a 6-1, 7-5, match to Mercer's Sachin Khurana while Mark Bucknam was defeated, 6-0, 6-3, by Alabama State's Szabin Pusztay. 

Also, in consolation play, Brian Slivonik picked up the Mocs' lone victory on the day, topping Dani Casablancas of Georgia Southern, 6-3, 6-1, while Fabian Lundberg dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to Octavio Tamola of Middle Georgia and Brian Wilson fell, 6-4, 6-1 to Middle Georgia's Masao Perret.
