PENSACOLA – Laurent Mailloux and Arthur Viallaneix each advanced to Sunday's play in the consolation bracket of the USTA/ITA South Regional Championships here at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of West Florida.
Mailloux opened Saturday's action with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 win over West Alabama's Nicolai Jochamowitz and then bested Jake Okines of Lee University by a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 score. He will next play Sunday at 8 a.m. against Jose Porfirio of Lynn University. Porfirio had a opening round bye and then beat Ahmed Alditar of Rollins by a 7-5, 7-5 score to advance to Sunday morning's match.
Viallaneix also had a first round bye and then came from begind to defeat Robin Marchione of Rollins, 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 to move on to Sunday's round at 8 a.m. against Caspeer Schuetze of West Alabama. After an opening round bye, Schuetze downed Lee's Rhys Milne 6-2 6-4 to move on to Sunday morning's match.
The consolation semifinals are Sunday at 11 a.m. with the championship finals to be determined.
