One of Florida Southern’s seven returning All-Americans… School record holder in the 1,000-freestyle and 1650-freestyle after initially setting those records as a freshman and then breaking them as a sophomore… Begins his junior year having earned six All-American awards in his career, with three in each of his first two seasons covering all three distance events.
As a sophomore (2013-14)… All-American in the 500-freestyle (8th place), 1000-freestyle (3rd place) and 1650-freestyle (3rd place)… First Team All-Sunshine State Conference… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… CSCAA Scholar All-American First Team… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Also competed in the 200-freestyle at the NCAA Division II National Championships… One of eight Moccasins to participate in all 11 meets including the Division II National Finals… Won SSC titles in the 1000 and the 1650 after finishing as runner-up in his freshman campaign… Established the new Florida Southern record in the 1650 with a time of 15:21.96 at the Division II National Finals… Set his new school record in the 1,000 at the SSC Championships (9:13.43), breaking the mark he set at the 2013 conference meet by 0.14 seconds… Finished second in the 500-freestyle to teammate Raul Garrastazu by 0.14 seconds… Finished second in individual scoring at the SSC Championships with 57 points, three behind Saint Leo’s Matheus Assis… Led the Moccasins with 15 individual wins during the season (seven in the 1000, five in the 500, and three in the 1650)… Had three of those wins in the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational, taking all three distance events in which he would later win All-American status… Won both distance events held in four different dual meets before later picking up two wins at the SSC Championships… In his nine 1,000-freestyle races, finished seven times and second once before placing third at the Division II National Finals… Won three of his four races in the 1650, with a third-place finish at nationals… #1 on the Florida Southern times list in the 1000- and the 1650-freestyle, and was #2 in the 500… Ranked first on the SSC times list in the 1000-freestyle and 1650-freestyle, and second in the 500… On the national times list, was 14th in the 500, fourth in the 1000, and third in the 1650.
As a freshman (2012-13)… All-American in the 500-freestyle (5th place), 1,000-freestyle (8th place), and 1,650-freestyle (5th place)… CSCAA Scholar All-American First Team… First Team All-Sunshine State Conference… SSC Swimmer-of-the-Week for January 21… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Florida Southern’s first All-American in the three distance events at the NCAA Division II National Finals (Raul Garrastazu was honorable mention All-American in the 1,650 in 2013)… Set school records in all three events, with the 500-freestyle (4:28.06) coming in the prelims at the National Finals, and the 1,650-freestyle (15:31.59) coming at the National Finals as well… Set the school record in the 1,000-freestyle (9:13.57) at the SSC Championships… Was the SSC runner-up to Nova Southeastern senior Oskar Nordstrand in the 500-, 1,000- and the 1,650, though he later defeated him in the 1,650 at the National Finals… Won a total of eight events throughout the season, including the 500- and 1,000-freestyle races in his first collegiate competition at Tampa (Oct. 19)… Won the same two events later in the year in a dual meet at Nova Southeastern (Jan. 19), which earned him the SSC Swimmer-of-the-Week award.
