Lison Tabbed 2019 MVP

LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.

 

Following a 9-7 season with a 4-3 mark in Sunshine State Conference play, Florida Southern men's lacrosse head coach Marty Ward has named former student-athlete Austen Lison as the teams 2019 team MVP. The All-SSC first-team honoree completed his senior season setting career bests in nearly every category. He recorded eight points on the season thanks to three goals and five assists. The senior lead the Mocs by picking up 89 ground balls and caused 38 turnovers. Lison assisted on the game-winning goal at Palm Beach Atlantic. Prior to the Mocs matchup against the Sailfish, he was named SSC defensive player of the week following a 2-1 week for the Mocs, where he recorded a pair of goals, picked up 13 ground balls, and caused 12 turnovers. The Leesburg, Va. native finished the season ranked sixth among the SSC with 5.50 ground balls per game and was fourth with 89 total ground balls. He was second with 38 total caused turnovers and third with 2.38 per game.

In his career at Florida Southern, Lison finished as the all-time leader in career groundballs (319), caused turnovers (123), games played (64), and a tie for first with 62 games started@. He finished second all-time with 89 ground balls in a single season*. Lison's career came full circle as he was named to the All-SSC first-team for the first time since his freshman season in 2016^.
