Four Moccasins Earn All-SSC Honors

MELBOURNE, FL - Four Florida Southern men's lacrosse student-athletes earn All-SSC honors. Follow the teams first winning season in conference play since the inaugural SSC men's lacrosse season in 2014, the Mocs have landed three on the first and second teams and two were named to the all-freshman team. Austen Lison was the lone Moccasin on the first team. Jeff Atlas and Kyle Silverstein both were named to the second team while Atlas was joined by Sean Nolan on the all-freshman team. The Mocs have landed at least two players on the all-freshman team since the first year in 2014.

Lison completed his senior season with setting career bests in nearly every category. He finished with eight points on the season with three goals and five assists. He picked up 89 ground balls and caused 38 turnovers. Lison assisted on the game-winning goal at Palm Beach Atlantic. He finished the season ranked sixth among the SSC with 5.50 ground balls per game and was fourth with 89 total ground balls. He was second with 38 total caused turnovers and third with 2.38 per game. In his career at Florida Southern, Lison finished as the all-time leader with 319 career groundballs, and 123 caused turnovers.

Atlas came into the program and immediately made a difference as he totaled 15 points in his first two collegiate games. Atlas was named to the second team and all-freshman team. In his first season, he finished as the team leader in points with 72 including leading the team with 42 assists.  Atlas' best game was in a 20-12 victory at Montevallo, where he recorded 11 points on five goals and six assists while picking up three ground balls. He finished the season third among the SSC with 4.45 points per game and was second with 72 points. He also led the league with 42 assists. Atlas set the single-season record with 42 assists passing Grant VanOverbeke's 35 in 2014. He was four points shy of a tie for the top spot as he finished with 72. At the national level, Atlas is fifth with 2.63 assists per game and was second in the nation with 42 assists only seven behind the leader.

Silverstein was named to the second team following a senior season where he tallied 45 points with 34 goals and 11 assists. He picked up 28 ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. The Smithtown native started the season off with a season-high six points against Tampa including his first, of seven on the season, man-up goal. Silverstein ranked ninth among the SSC with 34 goals. His seven man-up goals put him in a tie for first in the conference only five behind the national leader where he ranked 15th. Silverstein recorded a point in all but two games and found the back of the net in all but those same two games. He will finish his time at FSC fifth in total points, fourth in man-up goals, and third in goals scored.

Nolan joined Atlas on the all-freshman team as he was second on the team with 68 points. He led the team with 45 goals and was second with 23 assists. Nolan finished fourth among the SSC leaders with 2.81 goals per game and was fifth 4.25 points per game. He totaled five goals in a game four times on the season including a 12 point showing in the Mocs victory over Emmanuel.
