LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern men's lacrosse senior Lucas Claude was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Team of the Week. Claude earns the honors after his stellar preformance in the Moccasins (6-3, 1-0 SSC) 12-7 victory over new Sunshine State Conference foe Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday.
In the victory, Claude found the back of the net on five seperate occasions, including three goals in the span of seven minutes and eight seconds to extend the Mocs lead by six goals. The third of his three-in-a-row goals turned out to be the game-winning goal. Both of his assists came in an 18 second span in the first quarter as he fed shots to Carson Wallace and Kevin Dyer as Florida Southern built a 3-0 lead to open the game.
Claude's seven points vs. Palm Beach Atlantic last week were the most among all SSC men's lacrosse players in a single game. This season, Claude has recorded 18 goals, which ties his freshman year total with seven more regular season matches to play.
Claude and the Moccasins will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the University of Alabama in Huntsville (4 p.m.) in their final non-conference match of the season.
