MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Florida Southern men's lacrosse team was ranked second in the Sunshine State Conference as voted on by the league's six head coaches in the annual preseason poll.

In the conference's second season sponsoring men's lacrosse, the Moccasins were picked second behind the University of Tampa. The Spartans received five first-place votes and 25 points overall. The Mocs earned the other first-place vote and finished four points behind Tampa with 21.

Saint Leo was tabbed third in the league with 16 points, followed by Florida Tech with 13. Rollins (9) and Lynn (6) came in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Last season, the Spartans (16-3) won the first-ever SSC regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the NCAA semifinals. The Mocs' only blemishes in league play came against Tampa in the regular season and in the inaugural SSC tournament championship game.

Florida Southern opens the 2015 SSC slate when they host Tampa at Bryant Stadium on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m.
