The men‚Äôs lacrosse team will host Rollins Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium in the first round of the Deep South Conference Tournament. The winner of this game will take on Saint Leo, which received a bye, on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Saint Leo.¬†
This will be the second time this season that the Mocs have faced the Tars. They opened the season playing each other with the Moccasins winning 12-7.¬† In that game the Moccasins got out to an early lead 2-0 in the first quarter before Rollins battled back to tie the score 3-3 after the opening period.¬† Rollins scored three straight goals to start the second period, giving them a 6-3 advantage with 13:28 left.¬† The Mocs answered by scoring five straight goals to put them back on top 8-6.¬† The Tars' final goal came with 51 seconds left in the third quarter cutting the lead to 8-7.¬† Florida Southern went on to score the final four goals of the contest, for the 12-7 final score.¬† Cam Holding had 4 goals and 4 assists in the game.
The DSC tournament format has changed this year with the conference divided into the north and south regions.¬† Catawba, Mars Hill, and Wingate make up the north region, while Florida Southern, Rollins, and Saint Leo are in the south region.
In the North region, Catawba will host Wingate in the opening round game Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will take on Mars Hill, which received a bye, on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The winner of each region will play for the Deep South Conference Championship on Sunday in Salisbury, N.C. at 2 p.m.¬†
