LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern's eSports squad dropped a 2-0 decision to Purdue this past weekend in Rocket League action. The Moccasins were narrowly defeated, 2-1, in the first game of the best-of-three series, and the Boilermakers put the match away with a 4-1 victory in the second game. Although both games appeared to be winnable in the early going, the team's consistency in play and communication suffered in the late stages.
The Mocs struck first in game one when Cody Lowe put home a goal, but Purdue was able to hold Florida Southern scoreless the rest of the way and kept possession for much of the remainder of the game. The Boilermakers scored twice in the final two minutes to squeak by with a 2-1 win. In the second game, Purdue scored in the first 30 seconds to go up 1-0 before the Moccasins equalized when Ashley Dougherty put home a goal. It would be all Boilermakers from there, however, as Purdue struck for three more scored to make the final 4-1 and win the match.
