Equestrian Takes One First, Three Seconds at UF Show

GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Southern equestrian team took a first place and three second place finishes to place eighth out of 13 teams at the University of Florida Zone 5 Show on Saturday.

Taking home a first place blue ribbon was Emily Shoaff, who won in the over fences novice class. In the same event, Sophie Morgan placed fourth while Majorie Rodolosi and Taylor Derrico placed sixth. Madie Pollack placed sixth in the intermediate class. 

The Moccasins picked up two second place ribbons in the Flat W/T/C event as Alex Sturgeon and Paige Tynan took red ribbon the beginner class while Shoaff also took a red ribbon in the novice class.

Fourth place ribbons were captured by Shona Whitfield (advanced), Pollack (open intermediate); Samantha Wetz (advanced) and Morgan (intermediate). Melanie Tutin (open) and Shelby Cain (beginner) finished in fifth place in their respective events, while Elia Mattke (beginner), Rodolosi (novice), and Derrico (novice), all placed sixth.
