Seniors J.T. Hintzen and Logan Browning have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams as announced by the America Baseball Coaches Association. Hintzen was a first-team honoree while Browning was voted to the second-team.
Hintzen, who was previously named to the D2CCA All-America 1st Team and NCBWA All-America 2nd Team, leads Florida Southern with a perfect 13-0 record and a 2.13 earned run average. The Old Greenwich, Conn. native, has struck out 109 batters in his 88.2 innings pitched. Over 79 of those innings came out of the bullpen with 12 of his wins also coming in relief. Hintzen tossed a complete game three-hitter in game two of the Moccasins' South Region Championship run versus Tampa in his first start as a Moccasin.
Browning, who was a 1st Team All-American selection by the NCBWA and a 2nd Team All-America honoree by the D2CCA, boasts a 10-2 record on the mound with one save and tops the team for a second season in strikeouts with 116 on the year in his 108.1 innings pitched. Browning was a 1st Team D2CCA All-American in 2017. The Lakeland, Fla. native, who plays right field when not pitching, leads the Sunshine State Conference with a .439 batting average and has a .522 on-base percentage.
The Moccasins are currently competing at the NCAA Division II National Tournament and are vying for a 10th national championship. Florida Southern plays next on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against the winner of the Mercyhurst/Texas A&M-Kingsville game which is today at 5 p.m. in Cary, N.C.
