MELBOURNE, FL - Senior Logan Browning has been named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced today by the league office. The honor is the fourth time Browning has been so recognized. He picked up Pitcher of the Week honors last season and in 2016 as a sophomore, became the first player in league history to named both Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week in the same season.
Browning picked up the win in his start on Friday, Feb. 16 in the Moccasins' 7-2 win over Lee at Henley Field. The lefthander struck out seven and held Lee to three hits while tossing seven shutout innings.
On the season, Browning is 2-0 in three starts and leads the team with 24 strikeouts and a 1.40 earned run average. His 24 strikeouts rank third in the conference.
When not pitching, the Lakeland native plays right field or starts the team's designated hitter, and is second on the team with a .429 batting average.
Florida Southern is off to a 10-0 start to the season, the best since the 2011 squad got off to an 11-0 start.
The Moccasins will play the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 1:05 p.m. at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium.
