  • Former Moccasin, Wade Kirkland, Named a Texas League All-Star
    June 14, 2016
    SAN ANTONIO, TX - Wade Kirkland, who played for the Moccasins from 2008 to 2010, has been named to the Texas League All-Star Team as a member of the Midland Rockhounds, the Double-A affiliate of the Oakland Rangers. The Texas League All-Star game will be played June 28 at Hammons Field in Springfield, MO.
  • Detroit Tigers Take Machonis in 10th Round of MLB Draft

    Moccasin Sam Machonis has been drafted in the 10th round (295th pick overall) by Detroit Tigers in today's Major League Baseball Draft. It marks the third straight year Florida Southern has had a player taken in the first ten rounds, joining Jhalan Jackson, 2015 (7th round, Yankees) and Keith Curcio, 2014 (6th round, Braves). He is the 29th Moccasin taken in the first 10 rounds of the June Draft.
  • Former Moc, Trey Vavra, Named to Florida State League All-Star Team

    FORT MYERS - Trey Vavra, a member of the 2014 Moccasin baseball team, has been named to the Florida State League All-Star team as a member of the Fort Myers Miracle, the high-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. He will playing in the midseason All-Star Game in his own home stadium as the Miracle play host to the FSL's 55th All-Star game Saturday, June 18 at Hammond Stadium at the CenturyLink Sports Complex.
  • NCBWA Names Machonis to its Honorable Mention All-America Team

    AUSTIN, TX - Senior centerfielder Sam Machonis has been named an Honorable Mention All-American as announced today by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
  • Machonis & Reeves Selected to ABCA All-South Team

    Senior Sam Machonis and junior Mitch Reeves have been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Machonis was a first-team honoree while Reeves was named to the second-team. It marks the third All-Region team honor for Machonis and the second for Reeves.
  • NCBWA and CCA Honor Mocs on All-South Teams

    Two baseball postseason teams were released on Thursday with a trio of Mocs picking up All-South honors. Logan Browning and Sam Machonis were named to the first-team All-South squad by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) while Mitch Reeves was a second-team selection. Machonis was also named a first-team All-South member by the Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) while Browning was a second-team honoree.
  • Four Moccasins Named to All-SSC Team

    MELBOURNE – Logan Browning, Sam Machonis, and Mitch Reeves have been named to the All-Sunshine State Conference first-team as announced today by the league office. Ben Richardson was a second-team honoree. The team was voted upon by the league's head coaches and the coaches could not vote foe their own players. The three first-team selections is the most for Florida Southern since the 2012 season.
  • Smith Selected as SSC Pitcher of the Week

    MELBOURNE – Junior A.J. Smith has been named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week as announced today by the league office. Smith is the third Moccasin to earn the honor this season, joining Logan Browning (Feb. 15) and Ben Richardson (Apr. 11). Browning was also chosen as the SSC Player-of-the-Week on Mar. 28.
  • Southern's Solo Shots Sink Saint Leo On Senior Salute Day

    LAKELAND – Florida Southern hit a combined six solo home runs and a grand slam to sweep Saint Leo 11-5 and 15-10 in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader here Saturday on Senior Day at Henley Field to close out the regular season.

    MIAMI SHORES – Jason Sierra collected five hits, including a go-ahead homer to lead off the 10th inning as 22nd-ranked Florida Southern outlasted Barry, 12-10 in ten innings, in game one of a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader here Monday at Feinbloom Field. In game two, A.J. Smith struck out six in 6-1/3 innings as Florida Southern completed the sweep of the twin bill, winning 6-3.

Nova Southeastern took game two by a 12-0 score.

The two teams will conclude the series Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.

    TAMPA – J.D. Osborne doubled down the left field line to drive in two runs and lift third-ranked Tampa to a 7-6 win over #14 Florida Southern in game two to complete a doubleheader sweep of the Moccasins here Saturday in Sunshine State Conference action. The Spartans won game one, 11-3.
