Beach Volleyball Opens Second Season in South Florida

LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College beach volleyball is set to begin its second season in program history. The Moccasins are led by second-year head coach Hyrum Keime. The 2019 schedule for the Mocs features teams from all three divisions including the 2018 Small College Champion in Texas A&M Kingsville.

The 2019 season will kick off with the Mocs heading down to Boca Raton for the Paradise at the Burrow tournament at Florida Atlantic. The Mocs will face two teams ranked in the AVCA Beach Volleyball Coaches Preseason Poll in No. 19 TCU and No. 20 Florida Atlantic.

Keime returns seven from the inaugural beach volleyball team. This season's roster added seven freshmen that strictly are beach volleyball players, including Alex Montoya who transferred after a season of playing indoor volleyball at Kentucky Wesleyan. He also brought in two transfer student-athletes by adding Kylee Whiteleather (St. Petersburg College) and Lee Calhoun (Webber International).

Florida Southern will open the home portion of its schedule on March 5 for a doubleheader against UT Martin beginning at 10 a.m. at the Ruthven Beach courts.
