Tom Patri (1979-81) played only two years at Florida Southern but still garnered two All-American awards during his time with the Moccasins. After finishing as the national runner-up as a junior, and helping Florida Southern to a National runner-up finish, Patri won medalist honors at the 1981 National Championships to lead the Moccasins to their first of 11 National Titles in men's golf. Also a charter member of the SSC Hall of Fame, Patri went on to become one of Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers in America, and has coached more than 100 PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Future's Tour, Nationwide Tour, PGA Senior Tour and PGA Club Professionals. He was named the Metro New York PGA Teacher-of-the-Year in 1998, the Southwest Florida PGA Teacher-of-the-Year in 2004 and 2006, and the South Florida PGA Teacher-of-the-Year in 2006 as well. Patri's expertise goes beyond the golf course though. He's also a well-known writer, whose articles have appeared in numerous publications such as Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, and Golf Illustrated, and he's made regular appearances on Golf Channel's Academy Live.
