Florida Southern Finishes 18th in Final Learfield Cup Standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Florida Southern College finished 18th in the final 2018-19 NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, it was announced this week. The Moccasins made a combined 11 NCAA postseason appearances this past year, including top-10 finishes in men's golf (third), women's basketball (ninth) and women's lacrosse (ninth).

The Mocs have finished among the top 20 in the Directors' Cup standings 13 times since its inception in 1995-96. The Learfield IMG College Director's Cup honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program, achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's. Each institution is awarded points in a pre-determined number of sports for men and women. The competition takes into account the overall finishes of 14 total sports on the Division II side (seven men's, seven women's), and celebrates the pinnacle of athletic excellence.

Florida Southern finished third among all Sunshine State Conference member institutions in the final standings, trailing only Tampa (12th) and Barry (14th). Overall, the SSC had six members finish among the top 50.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
