  • Robbins Tabs Holmes and Moore as 2018-19 Team MVPs

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.
  • Men's Golf Team Receives Academic Honor from Golf Coaches Association of America

    NORMAN, Okla. – Florida Southern was among 35 schools, including one of only five at the Division II level, to be honored this week by the Golf Coaches Association of America with its highest academic award, the Presidents Special Recognition Honor. The award goes to those teams which finish with a team GPA of 3.5 and above.
  • Women's Golf Team and Three Individuals Earn Academic Awards from WGCA

    The Florida Southern women’s golf team and three of its individuals have been recognized by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association for their academic achievements during the 2018-19 school year. Under head coach Robbie Davis, the Moccasins had a team GPA of 3.636 to rank 16th in NCAA Division II, while senior Tori Higgins, sophomore Shelby Lewis, and freshman Nathalie Svensson were named WGCA All-American Scholars.

The CSCAA recognizes those teams achieving the GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester.

  • Anderson Joins VanDerLaan as Division II GCAA/PING All-American

    NORMAN, OKLA. - The Golf Coaches Association of America has announced its complete set of All-American teams, with Florida Southern senior Christian Anderson joining Michael VanDerLaan on that list. VanDerLaan was previously announced as a PING Division II First Team All-American after winning the NCAA Division II individual national title, and Anderson has now given Florida Southern another All-American as an honorable mention selection.

    CLEVELAND, Ohio - Florida Southern College finished 18th in the final 2018-19 NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, it was announced this week. The Moccasins made a combined 11 NCAA postseason appearances this past year, including top-10 finishes in men's golf (third), women's basketball (ninth) and women's lacrosse (ninth).

    Florida Southern senior Michael VanDerLaan earned a spot on the PING Division II All-American Team Wednesday night after winning the Division II Arnold Palmer Award given to the individual national champion. It’s the 15th year in a row the Moccasins have had at least one All-American, and the seventh straight year they’ve put one on the First Team.
  • Big Comeback Wins by Ibbotson and Anderson Break the Tie as Mocs Move into Semifinals with Win over Trevecca Nazarene

    DANIELS, WV – One day after Florida Southern got an individual national title from one of its senior golfers, the second one put together a comeback win for the ages that helped propel the Moccasins into the national semifinals. Christian Anderson overcame a five-stroke deficit halfway through his match to post the decisive win in his match after junior Chase Ibbotson came back from a two-stroke deficit with five holes to play to tie the score. Combined with an earlier win by Michael VanDerLaan, that gave No. 8 Florida Southern a 3-1-1 win over Trevecca Nazarene and set up a match against No. 10 Lincoln Memorial later Thursday afternoon.

    DANIELS, WV – Florida Southern got five fantastic rounds of golf Thursday afternoon at the Resort at Glade Springs in its national semifinal match against Lincoln Memorial, but the Railsplitters came out just a little bit ahead. Even with four rounds of par or better, including a match-best 69 from junior Chase Ibbotson and a 70 from Mike VanDerLaan, the 8th-ranked Moccasins dropped a 3-2 decision to the 10th-ranked Railsplitters to end their season.
  • Three Moccasins to Play in 2019 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

    LAKELAND, FL - Three former Florida Southern College women's lacrosse student-athletes were named to the 2019 IWLCA senior all-star south team. Aubriana Benedetto, Dani Bursinger, and Sam Keesey will represent the Mocs on the Division II south team. This will mark the seventh-straight year the Mocs will have representation on at the all-star game. The two teams are comprised of 22 players each, the North team will be coached by Ginny Martino (West Chester) while Kelly Gallagher (Tampa) will coach the South team. The Division II game will be played on June 1, 2019, at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, MD on Tierney Field at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge. The game will be live streamed at IWLCA-tv.com.

  • A Perfect Day for a Tenth: VanDerLaan Wins Individual National Title as Florida Southern Advances to Medal Play at NCAA Championships

    DANIELS, WV – Florida Southern left little doubt Wednesday as to whether it would be moving on to medal play at the NCAA Division II National Championships, but that was only half the story for the Moccasins as Michael VanDerLaan won the stroke play portion of the tournament to claim the individual national title. The senior from Southbury, Connecticut became the 10th national medalist in program history by shooting a final-round 66, putting him at -9 for the tournament.
