Mocs Triumph 4-3 Over Tars on Senior Day

LAKELAND, FL - Lorena Rionda and Natalija Popovic made Senior Day memorable on Wednesday afternoon by winning their singles matches as Florida Southern College women's tennis triumphed 4-3 over Rollins at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. The Moccasins (14-5, 5-3 SSC) lost the doubles point but used strong performances in the No. 2, 3, 5 and 6 singles flights to defeat the Tars (8-9, 2-5 SSC) on Senior Day. The win is the fifth-straight for the Mocs against the Tars, though Rollins still leads the all-time series, 43-14.

Popovic won 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles flight, improving to 7-4 on the season and with 51 career singles wins is now tied with Laura Salatino in 11th place in school history. Popovic needs only three more wins to enter the top 10 for career singles wins. Rionda's 6-1 win with Lola Asis in the No. 3 doubles flight has her now 10th overall in school history for career doubles wins with 52.
