  • Ormsby Caps Career at NCAA National Championship

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Bobby Ormsby wrapped up his collegiate career by placing 105th out of 249 runners at the NCAA Division II National Championship Meet held here Saturday at Angels Mounds. The senior turned in a time of 32:58.2 over the 10K course. The time was Ormsby's third fast 10K of his collegiate career.

    Bobby Ormsby will represent Florida Southern College as the lone Moccasin runner at the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championship Saturday in Evansville, IN at Angel Mounds. Ormsby received one of four at-large bids from the South Region and one of 27 total invitations from across the nation after finishing sixth at the NCAA South Region Meet Nov 4 at Lakeland's Holloway Park.

Ormsby placed sixth at the NCAA South Regional held Saturday at Lakeland's Holloway Park and Nature Preserve.

    LAKELAND, FL - The Florida Southern men's cross country team just missed automatically qualifying for the NCAA National Championship with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division II South Region Championship held here Saturday at Holloway Park and Nature Preserve. The top three finishing teams receive a berth to nationals.
  • FSC Running For It's Third Regional Championship in Last Five Seasons

    LAKELAND, FL - The Moccasins men's cross country team will be aiming for its third regional championship in the last five seasons when Florida Southern College and the Central Florida's Polk County Sports Marketing hosts the NCAA Division II South Region men's and women's cross country championships this Saturday, Nov. 4, here at Holloway Park and Nature Preserve (2402 Holloway Park Drive). The women's 6K will get the day started at 8:30 a.m. with the men's 10K to follow at 9:45 a.m. Admission is free but the park charges $5 for parking.

    MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern's Ben Martucci has been named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year while Mason Jones was tapped the SSC Freshman of the Year as announced today by the league office. In addition, Jones joined senior Bobby Ormsby and junior Dean McGregor on the All-SSC first-team while sophomore Warran Grajalez earned a spot on the second-team.

    NEW ORLEANS – Thanks to a first-place finish at the Sunshine State Conference Championship, Florida Southern jumped up two spots to number three in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Regional Poll released Tuesday. The Moccasins placed four runners in the top ten to capture their 17th SSC Title on Saturday.

    BOCA RATON, FL - Senior Bobby Ormsby's second-place finish helped Florida Southern win the Sunshine State Conference men's cross country championship here Saturday at the South Central Regional Park. The championship is the Moccasins' 17th overall and the team's first since 2013. The victory also snaps Saint Leo's three-year reign as league title holder.

    The Florida Southern men's cross country team, winners of a league-best 16 titles, will be looking to capture its 17th Sunshine State Conference championship on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, FL. The men's 8K race is set for 7:45 a.m. with the women's 6K to follow at 8:15 a.m. The Moccasins will be looking for their first SSC crown since 2013. Florida Southern has finished first or second in the SSC Meet in 23 of the last 30 seasons.

    NEW ORLEANS – Florida Southern, which placed third in the Florida State University Invitational last Friday, remains fifth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Regional Poll released Tuesday. The Moccasins have been ranked in the top five in each of the five regional polls this season.

    TALLAHASSEE, FL - Freshman Mason Jones finished fourth in the College Division (non-Division I teams) with a personal-best 8K time of 25:56.1 to pace Florida Southern to a third-place finish in the Florida State University Invitational held here Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park. The Moccasins totaled 70 points in the 10-team non-Division I portion of the Invitational, five points behind Tampa and UNC-Pembroke, both finishing with 65 points.

The men's 5K starts the day's festivities at 7:30 a.m. with the women's 3K to follow at 8 a.m. A 5K fundraiser for both FSC and SEU alumni will cap the morning's activities at 8:30.

The action gets started as the Moccasins compete in their first meet of the year beginning at 7:30 a.m., and the college meet will be followed by an alumni and open race.
