TAMPA - Senior Bobby Ormsby took first-place in the 5,000-meter run while several top ten school marks were set at the UT Ryan McCall Invite here Saturday at Pepin Stadium
Ormsby turned in the fourth fastest time in Moccasin history with a 14:46.52 to win the 5,000-meter run while freshman Mason Jones finished second in the race with the sixth fastest FSC mark with a 14:52.82 time, which is a freshman record. Josh Wagner came in 7th in the race with a 15:27.56 while Mitchell Kozik was 16th (15:40.75) and Evan Williams placed 27th (16:02.95). Also competing were Christian Beauchemin (16:45.30) and Brandon Williams (17:45.84).
Senior John Bryant recorded the Florida Southern's seventh-best 400-meter time to finish 15th with a 52.68 time while freshman William Sailor was 29th with a 56.26 time. Oswaldo Zapata turned in a 2:15.14 time in the 800-meter. Freshman Matt Pennell posted the Moccasins' eighth-best 200-meter time with a 24.40 effort. Pennell also ran the sixth-best 100-meter time in FSC history with an 11.82 mark.
Florida Southern will compete next at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge on March 17.
