WINTER PARK - Florida Southern's dropped a 6-3 match at Rollins to conclude the regular season with a 10-10 record. The loss drops the Moccasins to 3-4 in the Sunshine State Conference and gives Florida Southern the number five seed in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, April 20-22, at the IMG Academy in Bradenton. The Moccasins will have a rematch with the Tars who will be the fourth-seeded team in the tournament.
Florida Southern grabbed the first win of the match as Fabian Lundberg and Brian Slivonik teamed to defeat Ahmed Albitar and Daniel Ferl, 8-3, at number two doubles, but Rollins came back to take the final two pairings. Francesco Racanelli and Ziad Melhaoui topped Jose de Sario and Derek Bell, 8-2, at number three while Patrick Sell and Sami Kirberg downed Laurent Mailloux and Miguel Alvarez-Hevia, 8-6, at number one.
Kirberg took the first singles win, defeating Slivonik, 6-3, 6-3, at number three while FSC's Mailloux downed Ziad Melhaoui, 6-3, 6-4, at number four. Feri then bested Alvarez-Hevia, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) at number five and Cody Gubin clinched the Rollins win with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Oscar Soderlund at number six.
Lundberg got the Moccasins' third win of the match with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at number one singles over Sell while Racanelli defeated de Sario, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7), 10-8 at number two.
