MIAMI SHORES – Florida Southern's season came to a close today with a 5-0 loss at Barry University in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament here at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.

The Moccasins, ranked #45 in the ITA National Poll, conclude their season with a 14-11 record, the best mark for FSC since the 2011 squad finished with a 15-9 record.

Barry, ranked seventh in the ITA National Poll, swept the doubles competition with Ahmed Triki and Renato Lombardi, the country's sixth-ranked doubles team, posting an 8-3 win over Florida Southern's Jose de Sario and Brian Slivonik.

The Buccaneers won 8-4 at number two doubles as Fabian Pronnet and Flavio Matteoli downed the Moccasins' duo of Miguel Alvarez-Hevia and Oscar Soderlund. Barry competed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory at number three doubles as Franco Echenique and Nico Dreer downed the Mocs' combo of Fabian Lundberg and Arthur Viallaneix.

Barry's Triki, who is the third-ranked player in the NCAA Division II, defeated Lundberg, 6-2, 6-1, to put the Buccaneers within one point of winning the match while Echenique downed Soderlund, 6-0, 6-1, for the match-clinching point.

In postseason play, once a team reaches five points, the remaining matches still in play, are halted.
