    INDIANAPOLIS - Florida Southern College's intercollegiate athletic programs are one of 32 Division II programs across the country to earn the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence, the NCAA announced on Thursday.

    With three dual meets and two other larger meets in the books, the Florida Southern men’s swimming team is ranked No. 11 in the November 15 College Swimming Coaches Association of America national poll, while the women’s team is among those receiving votes. The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and aim to measure how the top teams would perform in head-to-head competition.

    TALLAHASSEE, FL – Matthew Holmes won the 200-freestyle, Luis Jasso won the 200-breaststroke, and Jasso nearly got another win in the 100-breast to lead Florida Southern in its dual meet at Florida State on Saturday. The Seminoles won 176-84.

  • Swimming Teams Take on Tampa in Home Opener Friday Night

    LAKELAND, FL - After two larger multi-team meets to open the season, the Florida Southern swimming teams will be making their first appearance at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center this Friday night in a dual meet against the University of Tampa. Scheduled start time is 6 p.m. Both the men’s and women’s teams from each school are nationally ranked, with the Moccasin men at No. 9, and the Spartan men at No. 10; and the Spartan women ranked No. 14, and the Moccasin women ranked No. 22.
  • Jasso Finishes Second in 100 Breaststroke; FSC Wraps Up DII Showcase

    MELBOURNE, FL - Luis Jasso had Florida Southern's top finish in the Division II Fall Showcase here Saturday at the Panther Aquatic Center on the campus of Florida Tech. The senior from Monterrey, Mexico placed second in the 100-yard backstroke as the Moccasins concluded competition on Saturday.

    MELBOURNE – Matias Lopez had a pair of third-place finishes, Matthew Holmes had one third and one fourth, while Luis Jasso and Sean Kim finished second and fourth in the 200-breaststroke to highlight the first day of the DII Fall Showcase hosted by Florida Tech.
  • Lopez and Jasso Post Wins as Florida Southern Finishes Fifth at NSU Sharks Invitational

    DAVIE, FL - Matias Lopez and Luis Jasso posted individual wins in the 400 IM and 200 backstroke, respectively, as Florida Southern finished fifth of seven teams at the NSU Shark Invitational held here Friday and Saturday at the NSU Aquatic Complex. The Moccasins totaled 477 points while the University of Indianapolis won the invitational with 740 points.
  • Sprinters Pace Florida Southern on First Day of Shark Invitational with Moccasins in Sixth

    DAVIE – Florida Southern got a runner-up finish from its 200-freestyle relay team to start the meet, then had four of the 16 scoring positions in the 50-freestyle to end day one of the Shark Invitational in sixth place.
  • Allyson Sweeney Joins Florida Southern Coaching Staff as Assistant Swimming Coach

    LAKELAND - Florida Southern head swimming coach Mike Blum has announced the hiring of Allyson Sweeney as the Moccasins’ new assistant coach. Sweeney is joining the staff by way of the nationally renowned USA Swimming club team, SwimAtlanta, where she has served as the head age group coach at the SwimAtlanta - Midway site, located in Cumming, Georgia alongside head site coach, Landon Harris. During her two years there, Sweeney oversaw the development of the location’s age group swimming and strength & conditioning training programs, producing several 14-and-under Georgia State champions and Georgia Zone team qualifiers.
  • Florida Southern Swimming Schedule Announced

    LAKELAND – The 2017-18 Florida Southern swimming schedules have been announced, with a total of 10 regular season meets on tap. Five of those will be at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool on the campus of Florida Southern College, and the remaining five will take the Moccasins on the road across the state of Florida. The season culminates with the Sunshine State Conference Championships in late February, and the NCAA Division II National Championships in March.
