    LAKELAND, FL - Jonathan Lawton scored 24 points and Ja'Kwan "Slinky" Jones came up with a huge block in the closing seconds as Florida Southern College men's basketball slipped past Palm Beach Atlantic, 75-73, in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (2-2, 1-1 SSC) used timely defense and a great performance at the free-throw line to top the Sailfish (4-3, 1-1) for the fifth-straight time.

The action gets underway with the women's game at 5:30 p.m., followed immediately by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

The Moccasins (1-2, 0-1 SSC) collected a rebound when the Lions (3-3, 1-0 SSC) missed a free throw with 11 seconds to play, but a last-second shot came up just short as Florida Southern dropped its first Sunshine State Conference game of the year.

    CLEVELAND, MS - Jonathan Lawton poured in 21 points to help lead Florida Southern College men's basketball to a 75-67 upset of No. 25 Delta State on Saturday night at the GSC/SSC Challenge at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The Moccasins (1-1) trailed just three times during the game as they controlled the Statesmen (0-2) for the majority of the night.

The Moccasins (0-1) trimmed a double-digit deficit to just two points in the final minute, but the Tigers (1-0) hung on for the win.

The Moccasins kick things off against West Alabama at 6 p.m. on Friday, and cap off the weekend against tournament host Delta State at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
