    LAKELAND – Cody Burgess started and ended the Moccasins' scoring on Saturday here at Henley Field as Florida Southern swept a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader from Eckerd, taking game one, 10-5, and then winning game two, 6-5. Burgess hit a three-run home run in the second inning of game one and then won game two with a walk-off homer on the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth.

  • Mocs Play To Rare Tie; Game Called in 7th Due to Umpire Injury

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC - Florida Southern's baseball game at Mount Olive Tuesday was called with no score and the Moccasins batting in the top of the seventh due to an injury to the home plate umpire, who was hit with a foul ball in the fifth inning. In the seventh after covering a play at third base, the umpire could not continue and was eventually taken to a local hospital. Both coaches agreed to end the game at that point rather than play with only one umpire. The Moccasins are now 17-1-1 while Mount Olive stands at 13-4-1.

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC - Austin Mauer hit a grand slam and drove in six runs total while Logan Browning also homered and drove in three runs as 4th-ranked Florida Southern mashed No. 19 Mount Olive, 12-2, here Monday at Scarborough Field. The win is the Moccasins' sixth in a row and improves the team's mark to 17-1, which is the best start to a season since the 2005 team began 20-1 before going on to win the program's ninth NCAA Division II national championship. The loss snaps an eight-game win streak by the Trojans and drops their record to 13-4.

    MOUNT OLIVE, SC – With cold temperatures expected in the area, Monday's start time for the Florida Southern baseball game against Mount Olive has been moved up to 2 p.m. The forecast has temperatures dipping into the low 40s by early Monday evening so the two teams agreed to move the start time up from the originally planned 4 p.m. first pitch. In addition, Tuesday's game, originally slated for a 1 p.m. start, has been moved up to 11 a.m. due to a forecast of rain in the afternoon.

The honor is the fourth time Browning has been so recognized.
