  • Browning Selected SSC Pitcher of the Week

    MELBOURNE, FL - Senior Logan Browning has been named the Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week as announced today by the league office. The honor is the fourth time Browning has been so recognized. He picked up Pitcher of the Week honors last season and in 2016 as a sophomore, became the first player in league history to named both Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week in the same season.
  • Burgess' Walk-Off Homer Lifts Mocs to Doubleheader Sweep of Lee

    LAKELAND - Cody Burgess hit a two-out walk-off home in the bottom of the eighth inning of a schedule seven-inning contest to lift Florida Southern to a 3-1 win over Lee University to sweep a Saturday doubleheader here at Henley Field. The Moccasins took game one, 7-6, behind a 4-for-4 effort from Omar Villaman. The pair of wins keeps the Moccasins undefeated at 10-0 while Lee drops to 3-8.
  • Browning Tosses Seven Shutout Innings; Niekro Picks up 150th Win

    LAKELAND, FL - Senior All-American Logan Browning allowed just three hits and struck out seven in 7.0 shutout innings to lead Florida Southern to a 7-2 win over Lee, earning head coach Lance Niekro his 150th career win with the Moccasins. Niekro is now 150-104 in five-plus seasons at the helm of the FSC program.
  • Cris Allen (Baseball, 1986-89) Named to SSC Hall of Fame

    MELBOURNE, FL - Cris Allen, an All-American and a member of the Moccasins' 1988 NCAA Division II National Championship baseball team, has been named to the 2018 Hall of Fame Class of the Sunshine State Conference as announced today by the league office. Allen and his eight fellow honorees will be inducted into the SSC Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 3 during the SSC Hall of Fame Brunch and Celebration in Lakeland on the campus of Florida Southern College.
  • Mocs Continue Long Ball with Three More Homers in 8-4 Win

    DAHLONEGA, GA - After hitting five home runs in Friday's doubleheader, the Moccasins continued to play long ball with round-trippers by Pablo Cabrera, Austin Mauer, and Hayden Marze as Florida Southern posted an 8-4 win over North Georgia to sweep the three-game series and remain undefeated at 7-0. The Nighthawks fall to 2-4. The 7-0 start to the season is the best for Florida Southern since the 2011 squad also began the year with seven straight wins.
  • Saturday Baseball Game Postponed

    DAHLONEGA, GA - Today's scheduled baseball game at the University of North Georgia has been postponed due to weather. The two teams will try again to finish their series with a single game Sunday at 11 a.m. Florida Southern swept Friday's doubleheader, 8-4 and 7-4, to move to a perfect 6-0 on the season.

    DAHLONEGA, GA – Florida Southern got home runs from Omar Villaman, Jacob Teter, Hayden Marze, and Alex Goebel while Logan Browning struck out nine in 6.1 innings as 19th-ranked Florida Southern downed #23 North Georgia, 8-4, in game one of a doubleheader here Friday at Bob Stein Stadium.
  • Schedule Change for Baseball Series at North Georgia

    DAHLONEGA, GA - Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Florida Southern baseball series at North Georgia, originally scheduled for Feb. 9-11, has been changed. The Moccasins will now play at the Nighthawks in a doubleheader at noon on Friday with the third game of the series scheduled for Saturday at a yet-to-be-announced time. Sunday will serve as a rain day if necessary.
  • Brown's Blast Sparks Outburst as Mocs Cruise, 14-2, at Eckerd

    ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Vaun Brown's two-run homer in the top of the seventh ignited an 11-run, two-inning out-pouring as Florida Southern cruised to a 14-2 non-conference victory at Eckerd College on Tuesday. The Mocs were leading 3-2 before scoring four times in the seventh and seven more times in the eighth.
  • Mocs Play Longball to Sweep DH from Argos

    LAKELAND, FL - Hayden Marze hit a grand slam and Jacob Teter added a three-run homer in a 7-5 game one win while Cody Burgess clubbed a pair of homers in a 4-1 game two victory as 19th ranked Florida Southern swept a Saturday doubleheader from West Florida here at Henley Field. The wins are the sixth and seventh straight by FSC over UWF.
  • Mocs Open Season With 4-2 Win Over West Florida

    LAKELAND, FL - Pablo Cabrera doubled to drive in J.P. DeBoyer with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and lift 19th-ranked Florida Southern to a 4-2 win over West Florida in the opening game of the season for both teams here Friday night at Henley Field. The win backed an eight strikeout, three-hit stint by Logan Browning and a 3-for-4 night by Omar Villaman.

    The Florida Southern baseball team will open its season tonight at 6 at Henley Field in game one of a three-game home series with the University of West Florida. This is the fourth time in the last five seasons that these two South Region foes have met to start the year.
  • Three Mocs Named to Preseason NCBWA All-South Team

    Moccasin outfielder Cody Burgess has been named to the Preseason South Region first-team by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association while fellow outfielder Logan Browning and catcher Austin Mauer have been named to the second team. Florida Southern was the only school from the Sunshine State Conference to have three players named to the preseason teams. In addition, the Moccasins are ranked fifth in the NCBWA South Region Preseason Poll.
  • Matt Joyce Jersey Retirement Set for Wednesday

    LAKELAND, FL - Former Florida Southern College baseball standout and current Oakland A's outfielder Matt Joyce will have his No. 24 jersey formally retired in a halftime ceremony at the Moccasin men's basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at Jenkins Field House. Joyce, who spent three years (2003-05) at Florida Southern before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 12th round of the MLB Draft, helped lead the Mocs to the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championship.

  • FSC Community Mourns the Loss of Moccasin Hall of Famer, Ken Huebner
    January 02, 2018
    The Florida Southern College community is saddened by the loss of Ken Huebner, who passed away Dec. 30, 2017 in Hawthorne, NJ. He was 73. Huebner was Florida Southern’s first All-American in baseball in 1964 and was a three-time Moccasin Most Valuable Player from 1963-65 as a pitcher and outfielder. In 1964, he became the first Moccasin in the modern era to hit .400 while his career batting average of .376 stood as an FSC record for 14 seasons. On the mound, his 1.45 career earned run average is still the third lowest ever posted at Florida Southern. For his career, the 1967 FSC graduate was 14-5 on the mound with 148 strikeouts over 155 innings. In 2002, he was inducted in the inaugural class of the FSC Athletics Hall of Fame. His jersey, number 43, is retired.

  • Florida Southern Releases 2018 Baseball Schedule

    Florida Southern College has released its 2018 baseball schedule and the Moccasins will play 26 of their 49 games at historic Henley Field. Twenty-three games will be on the road, including six games out of state. The Moccasins, who advanced to the NCAA South Regional Tournament last season, will face five other teams that made the 2017 Tournament, including North Georgia, Kentucky Wesleyan, and Mount Olive, as well as fellow Sunshine State Conference teams, Nova Southeastern and Tampa.

    INDIANAPOLIS - Florida Southern College's intercollegiate athletic programs are one of 32 Division II programs across the country to earn the NCAA Division II Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence, the NCAA announced on Thursday.
