TAMPA – Florida Southern’s All-American 200-medley relay team made sure the Moccasins got off to a winning start in a new season Friday night, and a trio of juniors who earned individual All-American awards last year started the same way. Women's Swimming Team Takes on Tampa to Open SeasonOctober 16
The Florida Southern swimming teams begin their 2014-15 season Friday night in Tampa with the first of seven dual meets for the women and six for the men in addition to one multi-team invitational in December. Head coach Duncan Sherrard has seen both his teams finish in the top-10 at the NCAA Division II National Finals four years in a row, and the Moccasins return all six women and eight men who competed at the finals in 2014.. The 2014-15 Florida Southern swimming schedule has been released, and the Moccasins will have a total of four home dates featuring one Division I opponent, a top-10 Division II program, the defending Division III women’s national champion, and both the men’s and women’s junior college national champs. The Moccasins will also have four meets on the road before postseason competition gets underway at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in February, followed by the NCAA Division II National Championships in March.. The Florida Southern swimming teams have been honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America as NCAA Division II Scholar All-American Teams for the 2014 spring semester. It’s the fourth year in a row both squads have earned that distinction under head coach Duncan Sherrard, and Florida Southern was one of 32 schools with the men and women each receiving recognition.
