One of Florida Southern’s seven returning All-Americans… Winner of two national championships in relay events (200-medley relay as a sophomore and 800-freestyle relay as a freshman)… Has won a total of 14 All-American awards coming into his senior year (six individual and eight relay)… Member of three school-record relay teams in his career (200-freestyle, 800-freestyle, and 200-medley).

As a junior (2013-14)… All-American in the 100-butterfly (6th place), 400-freestyle relay (3rd place) and 800-freestyle relay (7th place)… Honorable Mention All-American in the 50-freestyle (11th place), 100-freestyle (14th place), 200-butterfly (16th place) and the 200-freestyle relay (9th place)… One of eight Moccasins to participate in all 11 meets including the NCAA Division II National Championships… Member of Florida Southern’s SSC champion 800-freestyle relay team for the third year in a row… Finished 18th in individual scoring at the SSC Championships with 41 points… Ranked third on the team with nine individual wins (three in the 100-butterfly, two in the 50-freestyle, two in the 200-freestyle, and one apiece in the 50-butterfly and 100-freestyle)… Had three different dual meets where he won two events (vs. Florida Tech, Emory, and Indian River State)… Led Florida Southern with eight relay wins… Finished second at the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational in both the 100- and 200-butterfly, and was third in each of those events at the SSC Championships… Held the top position on Florida Southern’s times list in the 50-butterfly, and was second in the 100-butterfly, 200-butterfly, the 50-freestyle, and the 100-freestyle… Ranked eighth nationally on the Division II times list in the 100-butterfly, and was third in the SSC… His times of 20.36 seconds in the 50-freestyle and 44.26 seconds in the 100-freestyle at the Division II Championships were also good for third on the SSC times list.

As a sophomore (2012-13)… National Champion in the 200-medley relay and helped two other relay teams finish as national runner-up… All-American in the 200-medley relay (1st place), 400-medley relay (2nd place), and 800-freestyle relay (2nd place)… Honorable Mention All-American in the 100-freestyle (14th place)… CSCAA Scholar All-America First Team... Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Aided the Moccasins in setting both a school and NCAA record at the Division II National Finals with a time of 1:27.21 in the 200 medley relay… Helped the 800-freestyle and 200-medley relay teams win the SSC Championship for the second year in a row… Earned wins in four different individual events throughout the season and four different relay events… Captured the 100 freestyle in three dual meets, and also won the 200-freestyle, 500-freestyle, and 100-butterfly one time each… The only Moccasin to win three different freestyle events during the 2012-13 season… Member of three winning 200-freestyle teams and two 200-medley relay teams (both the SSC and national championship meets)… Also part of one 400-freestyle and one 800-freestyle winning teams… Competed in the FINA World Swimming Championships in Barcelona during the summer, swimming both the 50- and 100-freestyle… Collected six medals at the 2013 Central American Games in the spring as part of the Honduras National Team… Won silver in the 50-meter butterfly, and bronze in the 100-meter butterfly and 50-meter freestyle… Earned his other three medals (one silver and two bronze) as part of various relay teams.

As a freshman (2011-12)… Member of National Champion relay team (800-yard freestyle)… All-American (400-yard medley, 800-yard freestyle relay)… Honorable Mention All-American (200-yard freestyle)… All-SSC Honorable Mention… SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll… represented his native country, Honduras, in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, becoming the first Florida Southern student-athlete to compete in the Olympics… competed in the 400-meter freestyle… swam in 12 meets… set school records in both the 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard freestyle… swam a school record time of 4:32.12 in the 500-yard free at the SSC Championships and swam a school record time of 9:35.34 in the 1,000 free at the NSU Invitational… was part of the school's record-setting 400-yard freestyle relay team that had a school record time of 2:58.13 at the NCAA D-II Championships… swam season's second-fastest time in 1,650-yard freestyle (16:28.05) at the NSU Invitational… recorded the season's fourth-fastest (51.54) time in the 100-yard butterfly in dual meet against Daytona State (1/28).

In high school…  2010 graduate of Saint Peter’s Academy in Honduras… competed in swimming all four years… completed in the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, and the 2011 Championships in Shanghai… in 2009 set Central America and Caribbean record in 50 fly… graduated fifth in a class of 90 with a 3.70 grade point average… Personal… Majoring in biology … son of Allan and Mauricio Gutierrez … has two younger sisters … competed for Delfines Sampedranos Club Team, top-ranked club team in Honduras, for four years … born 8/12/93.
