Jovaughn Howard

As a junior (2011)… Played in the first four games, including two starts, before missing the rest of the season due to injury… Scored his goal in the season-opening 4-3 win at Mount Olive, a 57th-minute tally that proved to be the game-winner… Second time in three years he scored in the Mocs’ first game of the season.

As a sophomore (2010)… Florida Southern’s top reserve for most of the year, playing in all but one game off the bench as a forward… Was the first or second player off the bench in 13 of Florida Southern’s 15 games… Scored both of his goals in the second half during a 6-1 win at St. Andrews (Sept. 4), the first multi-goal game of his career… Assisted the game-winning goal by Zach Hofstetter in 3-1 win at #17 Rollins, snapping a 1-1 tie in the 71st minute (Sept. 25)… Averaged 27 minutes per match.

As a freshman (2009)… One of only three Moccasins to play in all 14 games, starting eight of them at forward… One of three freshmen to start over half of Florida Southern’s games (along with Brad Hunt and Billy Locy)… First player off the bench four times, and was second in the other two… Tied for the team lead with three goals and was second on the team with six points… Scored his first college goal in a loss at Montevallo in the Mocs’ season opener, less than five minutes after checking into the game as a reserve (Sept. 6)… Helped secure a 3-1 win over Florida Tech with a goal late in that game (Sept. 19)… Also scored once in a 3-1 loss at Saint Leo (Oct. 14)… Averaged 58 minutes per match.

In high school… 2009 graduate of Eastside High School in Gainesville… First Team All-Area as a junior and senior and 3-time all-area overall for coach Steve Holloway… Had 18 goals and four assists in 2008, leading the Rams to an 11-5-4 record… Scored 19 goals with five assists in 2009 as the Rams went 18-10 and won the 5A District-4 title for the second year in a row… Played club soccer for Leg-A-Z and coach Basil Benjamin.
