  • VanDerLaan Named First Team All-American as Arnold Palmer Award Winner

    Florida Southern senior Michael VanDerLaan earned a spot on the PING Division II All-American Team Wednesday night after winning the Division II Arnold Palmer Award given to the individual national champion. It’s the 15th year in a row the Moccasins have had at least one All-American, and the seventh straight year they’ve put one on the First Team.
  • Big Comeback Wins by Ibbotson and Anderson Break the Tie as Mocs Move into Semifinals with Win over Trevecca Nazarene

    DANIELS, WV – One day after Florida Southern got an individual national title from one of its senior golfers, the second one put together a comeback win for the ages that helped propel the Moccasins into the national semifinals. Christian Anderson overcame a five-stroke deficit halfway through his match to post the decisive win in his match after junior Chase Ibbotson came back from a two-stroke deficit with five holes to play to tie the score. Combined with an earlier win by Michael VanDerLaan, that gave No. 8 Florida Southern a 3-1-1 win over Trevecca Nazarene and set up a match against No. 10 Lincoln Memorial later Thursday afternoon.
  • Scott Earns NCBWA Honorable Mention All-South Honors

    DALLAS, TX - One week after being named as a second team all-Sunshine State Conference selection, Florida Southern College baseball's Zach Scott has been named as an all-South Region honorable mention selection by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
  • A Perfect Day for a Tenth: VanDerLaan Wins Individual National Title as Florida Southern Advances to Medal Play at NCAA Championships

    DANIELS, WV – Florida Southern left little doubt Wednesday as to whether it would be moving on to medal play at the NCAA Division II National Championships, but that was only half the story for the Moccasins as Michael VanDerLaan won the stroke play portion of the tournament to claim the individual national title. The senior from Southbury, Connecticut became the 10th national medalist in program history by shooting a final-round 66, putting him at -9 for the tournament.
  • Equestrian Posts Five Top 10 Finishes

    LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College equestrian posted five top-10 finishes this past season including a fifth-place showing at the University of South Florida Show in October, the highest team finish in the program's three-year history.
  • Three Moccasins Break Par Tuesday, Pushing Florida Southern up to Eighth at NCAA Division II Championships

    DANIELS, WV – Needing to make a move in the second round of the NCAA Division II National Men’s Golf Championships, Florida Southern got exactly what it needed with a trio of Moccasins breaking par on Tuesday. Senior Christian Anderson put together the best round of his college career by shooting a six-under-par 66, senior Michael VanDerLaan gave the Mocs a 69, and freshman Max Coutsolioutsos added a 70 as 8th-ranked Florida Southern will go into the final round of stroke play tied for eighth.
  • Gartrell Named WGCA Second Team All-American for Second Year in a Row

    For the second year in a row, Florida Southern junior Amanda Gartrell has been named a Second Team All-American by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. First team selections were announced at the conclusion of stroke play at the national finals on May 15, and the second team and honorable mention honorees were announced Monday night, May 20.
  • Seniors Set the Pace for FSC on Day One of NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships

    DANIELS, WV – Florida Southern got off to a fast start Monday morning at the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championships, but will still need to make up a little bit of ground over the next two days to move on in the finals. Led by seniors Mike VanDerLaan and Christian Anderson, the 8th-ranked Moccasins shot a 299 to finish the day tied for 14th place, but are only five shots out of eighth where they will need to be by the end of Wednesday.
  • NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Finals Begin Monday with Mocs Making their 40th Appearance

    The Florida Southern men’s golf team opens play in the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament on Monday in Daniels, West Virginia where the Moccasins are one of 20 teams competing for the title. Florida Southern has reached the finals for the 40th time, more than any other D-II team in the country, and has already won 13 national championships, which is also the most in Division II.

  • Four Moccasins Named to IWLCA All-South Region Teams

    LAKELAND, FL - Four Florida Southern College women's lacrosse student-athletes earn IWLCA All-South Region honors. Dani Bursinger and Sam Keesey were named to the first team. Riley Bannatyne and Aubriana Benedetto earned spots on the second team. This marks the third-straight year Bursinger has been named to the first team and the second-consecutive year Keesey has earned first-team honors. 
  • Flemming and Guerra Earn All-Region Honors

    NEW ORLEANS, LA - Sophomore Hannah Flemming and junior Ysabella Guerra earned All-Region honors as the USTFCCCA announced the 2019 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Individuals on Tuesday afternoon. The awards mark the first time in program history that a women's track athlete has been named an All-Region Individual. 
  • Gartrell Earns Spot on All-South Region Women’s Golf Team

    The Women’s Golf Coaches Association has named Florida Southern’s Amanda Gartrell to the 2019 All-South Region Women’s Golf Team, marking the second year in a row the junior from Lakeland, Florida has earned that honor. The announcement was made Monday night at the awards banquet prior to the start of the NCAA Championships.
  • Moccasins Drop Heartbreaker to Lions in Opening Round of South Region Tournament

    MIAMI SHORES, FL - Florida Southern College women's tennis saw its 2019 season end on Monday morning, falling 4-2 to Saint Leo in the opening round of the South Region I Tournament on the campus of Barry. The No. 21 Moccasins (15-8) won the doubles point but could hold off a potent No. 4 Lions (20-6) singles rotation. The fourth-seeded Lions move on to challenge top-seeded Barry tomorrow at 10 a.m. for a berth to the Championship on the line.
  • Baseball Closes Out 2019 Against Tampa, Drops Doubleheader to Spartans

    LAKELAND, FL - Pablo Cabrera went a combined 5-for-9, hit a home run, and drove in five on Senior Day, but Florida Southern College baseball dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 9 Tampa on Saturday (7-4, 7-5) at Henley Field.
  • VanDerLaan's Albatross Sparks Florida Southern as Mocs Clinch Spot in National Finals

    HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. – Mike VanDerLaan’s albatross on No. 14, and Chase Ibbotson’s eagle on the same hole a little bit later may not have been the literal difference in Florida Southern’s advancing score to the national finals, but for a long portion of Saturday, it looked like it would be. Even so, VanDerLaan’s incredibly clutch shot in the final stages of the final round gave the 8th-ranked Moccasins a jolt, and they rode that all the way to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional that sends them to the Division II National Championships for the 40th time.

    LAKELAND, FL - Alan Burnsed's three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning helped erase an early five-run deficit as Florida Southern College baseball picked up a thrilling 8-7 win over No. 9 Tampa on Friday night at Henley Field.

    HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. – Florida Southern did not have far to go in order to make it into the top seven Friday, and now that the Moccasins are in one of the advancing positions for the national finals, they just need to hold it for one more day on the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort. Thanks in large part to freshman Johnny Tucker’s two-under-par 70, and another strong round by senior Christian Anderson, 8th-ranked Florida Southern is in fourth place at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regionals, and seven shots in the clear.
  • Mocs' Season Ends in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    TAMPA, FL - Florida Southern College women's lacrosse's streak of consecutive national championship appearances ended at three following a double-overtime loss to Rollins. The Mocs (16-4) rallied back to tie the Tars (15-2) at 11-11 late into the second half. After neither team could convert shots in the first overtime period the game went to a second overtime period where the Tars would fire home the game-winner.

  • Moccasins Eighth after One Round of Men’s Golf Super Regional, Just One Shot Back of Advancing Position

    HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. – The El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort has been a challenge so far for some of the best teams in Division II men’s Golf. Only one team broke par in Thursday’s opening round of the NCAA Division South/Southeast Super Regional, only two were at even-par, and no one else was better than +9. Florida Southern is one of those teams in the mix, however, as the 8th-ranked Moccasins had a score of 301 to put themselves in eighth place, only one shot back of the seven positions that will advance to the national finals.
  • Trana Lands on Two Different All-Region Teams

    Senior designated player Jessica Trana was voted to two different All-South Region Softball Teams this week by earning NFCA Second Team honors from the coaches’ organization, and second team honors by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association. She is the first Florida Southern DP to make the all-region team since Angela Williams did so in 2008 and ’09.
  • Men's NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional Begins Thursday

    The NCAA postseason begins Thursday for the Florida Southern men’s golf team as the Moccasins open play in the Division II South/Southeast Super Regional. The three-day, three-round tournament is being played at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The Hills, Florida with Rollins College serving as host. It includes 10 teams from the South and 10 from the Southeast along with eight individual qualifiers. The top seven teams and the top two golfers not with one of those teams will advance to the Division II National Championships in Daniels, West Virginia, May 20-24.
  • Florida Southern Wraps up NCAA South Regional in Ninth Place; Gartrell Ties for 14th

    CLEVELAND, TENN. – Florida Southern completed the NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Tournament with a final-round 310 to finish in ninth place, while Amanda Gartrell had her second straight 74, but fell one stroke short of a playoff to advance to the Division II National Finals as an individual qualifier. She tied for 14th with a score of 223.

The Mocs will head into the final round of the regional tournament in eighth place, needing to make up seven shots in the standings to have a chance for advancement.

    INDIANAPOLIS - Florida Southern College women's tennis will be the No. 5 seed in the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis South Region I Tournament and will face No. 4 Saint Leo on Monday, May 13 at Barry University in Miami Shores in a repeat of last year's South Region I opening round. The winner of Monday's match takes on the top-seeded Buccaneers on Tuesday, May 14.
  • Rionda Earns Conference Second Team Singles Honor

    MELBOURNE, FL - The Sunshine State Conference named Florida Southern College women's tennis senior Lorena Rionda to the 2019 All-SSC Women's Second Team Singles on Wednesday. The senior from Gijon, Spain went 13-5 in singles play this season with a 1-0 record in the No. 1 flight and a 12-5 record in the No. 2 flight.

    CLEVELAND, TENN. – One day and one round into the NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Tournament, Florida Southern is pretty much where it needs to be in order to advance to nationals. In fact, the Moccasins spent more time in the lead Monday than anyone else, and at day’s end were tied for fourth, only four shots behind first-place Florida Tech.
