LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College athletics and its website provider, PrestoSports, are set to launch a new and improved version of FSCMocs.com this fall. The updated website will provide an enhanced user experience through a modern website design, easy navigation, and more engaging content.
"After three years of the current setup of FSCMocs.com, we felt that it was time to provide our fans with a better online experience," said Ryan Bower, Director of Athletic Communications. "The PrestoSports team has worked with us all summer on the new look of the site, and I am confident that fans will love the results. We've seen a sneak peek, and it looks tremendous."
In addition to a new look, the redesigned FSCMocs.com will include some of the latest features from PrestoSports such as improved schedule pages, social media feeds and a special area to highlight all that Florida Southern College has to offer.
FSCMocs.com will also become the exclusive home of all Florida Southern athletics video content, enabling users to get all their info in one convenient place. FSCMocs.com is not the only multimedia tool getting a facelift over the summer as the Mocs' social media channels will also be upgraded.
Beginning this year, the official Twitter and Instagram handles of Florida Southern Athletics will be @FSC_Mocs, while each team social media account will also transition to a handle that features FSC_ followed by the sport name (FSC_Volleyball, FSC_MBB, etc.). Also, the department will begin using #LetsGoMocs as its official hashtag for 2017-18.
"Changing our social media accounts allows us to stay consistent when it comes to our branding efforts on social media," said Bower. "The use of #LetsGoMocs is a way to distinguish Florida Southern from a school like Chattanooga, which has used #GoMocs for years. We want all our fans to engage with us on social media, and use #LetsGoMocs as we move forward!"
Fans will also see an increase in video content this year. In addition to streaming broadcasts of live home events, the Athletic Communications staff will also produce several video series, which will be revealed at the beginning of the academic year.
"We had unprecedented success in using video content to drive traffic to our website last year," said Bower. "Wil Fisackerly and Zach Smith did a fantastic job with feature content, highlight packages, and other video projects. Their skill level and passion for what they do is incredible, and we're excited to have them back again."
Also for 2017-18, the Athletic Communications staff will add several student assistants to help bolster it's communication's efforts. Fisackerly and Smith will head up the video production efforts, while Reems Landreth and Mikaela Queen will serve as staff photographers and social media coordinators. Casey O'Brien will serve as the office's graphic artist, and Kolby McWilliams will join the team as a media specialist.
Longtime staff members Tim Carpenter and Wayne Koehler will also return. With more than 50 years combined experience at Florida Southern, Carpenter and Koehler have been a part of FSC's transformation into one of the top NCAA Division II athletic programs in the nation.
Florida Southern fans can also expect to see an all new graphics package for gameday content on Twitter and Instagram. The new FSCMocs.com is slated to debut in early September.
