Florida Southern Finishes 16th in Learfield Directors' Cup

CLEVELAND, OH - Florida Southern College Athletics continued its long tradition of success with a 16th place finish in the final standings of the 2016-17 Learfield Directors' Cup, which ranks all athletic programs at the NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA levels based on their success in athletic competition.

FSC's finish marks the 10th time that the Moccasin athletic program has finished among the top 20 at the Division II level. Florida Southern also finished as the top athletic program in the Sunshine State Conference, finishing well ahead of conference rival Barry, which finished 24th.

The Moccasins earned 515 total points, the fourth-highest total in school history, thanks in large part to a Division II National Championship in men's golf, and a national runner-up showing in women's lacrosse. Florida Southern also finished fourth in the nation in men's swimming and received points for postseason appearances in baseball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball.

Florida Southern scored 112 points in the fall, 137 points in the winter, and 265 points in the spring. The Mocs tallied points in baseball, women's basketball, men's cross country, men's golf, women's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball.

The Learfield Directors' Cup is a joint venture of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
