Softic Wins Gold Flight At Embry-Riddle Tournament

All-American Senka Softic posted three wins to go unbeaten and claim the title in the Gold Flight at the Embry-Riddle Tournament Sunday at Daytona Beach.

Softic, the top seed in the flight, won her first two matches in straight sets. She was matched against Barry's Caroline Wendling in the finals and won when Wendling retired in the second set.

Freshman Andrea Arguello was the only other Moccasin to post more than one win in the singles competition. She went 2-1 in the Eagle Flight. Veronika Kovacikova, Amanda Carns and Agnese Rozite each recorded one win.

In the doubles competition, the team of Softic and Rozite went 2-1. The team of Kovacikova and Arguello was 1-2 and the Baertschi/Carns team was 0-3.

The Moccasins' next tournament is the ITA Fall Regional Sept. 24-27 at Valdosta, Ga.
