Mocs Drop Season Finale At Catawba 10-8

In a game that saw seven lead changes and six ties, Catawba scored the final three goals and beat the Moccasins 10-8 Saturday at Salisbury, N.C.

 The loss ended the Moccasins' first season of NCAA competition at 4-6 overall, 1-4 in the Deep South Conference. With the win, Catawba (3-7, 2-3 DSC) earned the fourth and final spot in the Deep South Conference Tournament.

The Indians jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game, but the Moccasins responded with three goals of their own to tie the game at 3-3. The game was still tied at 6-6 at halftime and at 7-7 after three periods.

 Seabrooke Carter put the Moccasins ahead 8-7 in the first 30 seconds of the final period with an unassisted goal, his fourth of the game. Catawba forced the game's sixth tie with a goal two minutes later, then knocked in two goals in the final eight minutes to claim the victory.

 Bryan Sbriglia, Cason Heckle, Devin Peirce and Stefan Nippert accounted for the other Moccasin goals. Max Whipple won 11 of 21 face-offs.
