Hawley To Play Professionally In Germany
Michaela Hawley, whose standout senior season earned her the Sunshine State Conference Women's Player of the Year honor, is going to continue her basketball career in Germany. She has signed a contract to play for Bielefeld in the German Bundesliga League, which is the highest level league of club basketball in Germany. The team starts its season Sept. 22.
A second-team All-America selection by Women's Division II Bulletin, Hawley led the Moccasins to a 24-7 season, led the SSC in scoring (20.0) and field goal percentage (57.6) and was the only SSC player ranked in the top five in scoring, rebounding, FG% and FT%.
Her season point total of 619 points is the second-best season total in FSC history. A graduate of Barron Collier High School in Naples, Hawley finished her four-year FSC career with 1,801 points, fifth-best in school history. Her career rebound total of 759 is ninth-best in school history. She tied the school's season record for blocked shots with 56 and her career total of 135 ranks second in school history. She also ranks third in career free throws made (387) and fourth in career field goals made (697).
