Europe Trip - Day 7

Team at the top of the Eiffel TowerTeam at the top of the Eiffel Tower

We made it to Paris!! We had a great day full of fun adventures. Our train ride from Charleoi, Belgium to Paris was about two hours with an unexpected delay due to a technical difficulty. It was a pretty cozy ride thanks to our over-sized luggage and multiple carry-ons. Upon our arrival in Paris we took the metro to our hotel. We realized that once you take the metro the first time you pretty much understand how the entire thing works. We dropped off our luggage and in no time we were on our way to the Eiffel Tower. Finally!

Our group was somehow separated en route but miraculously met up in the swarm of tourists at the tower. We took a bunch of pictures (obviously) and just soaked in the beautiful scenery. From there we tried to find cute cafés to enjoy the delicious baguettes and pastries. Then we all met back at the hotel for a couple hours of rest but some of us decided to go exploring. We saw Notre Dame and other gorgeous architecture before heading back to the hotel.

We then took a trip to the highest point in Paris to overlook the city and yes, more pictures. We walked around the touristy parts of Paris and began to feel more comfortable being American. It was a great trip and got even better when some of us experienced crepes with Nutella. Needless to say, there will be more of those before we head back to the states. We ended up eating at "Painter's Square" where painters and portrait artists set up shop to create and sell their work.

Coming back to the hotel was an adventure we will never forget. Since the new French president was elected yesterday the streets were absolute mayhem to say the least. People were yelling with excitement and took no prisoners on the metro. Elena Sorich was almost left behind, one group was completely pushed off the train, Jasmine Childress almost lost her purse, and Morgan Kosterlitz got really cozy with a large, sweaty, hairy man. Something we will never forget! Needless to say, we all made it out alive and in one piece. It's a good thing too since it's game day tomorrow!!! Go Mocs!
