Women's Lacrosse Team Earns Top Honors Among Independents

Playing as an independent in its first season of competition, the women's lacrosse team did not have any all-conference honors to aim for. However, FSC and seven other Division II schools in a similar situation formed a group to recognize the top performers among the teams playing as independents and the Moccasins received the majority of the honors.
The participating schools were FSC, Catawba, Grand Valley State, Lenoir-Rhyne, Newberry, Shepherd, Tiffin and Urbana.
Moccasin head coach Kara Reber was voted Independent Coach of the Year and Megan Asper was selected as the Independent Freshman of the Year. Asper led the Moccasins in scoring with 38 goals.
First-team selections from the Moccasins for the All-Independent Team were Asper, Mara Mason, Katie Gladhill and Melissa Halstead. Second-team selections from the Moccasins were Katie Ferree and Lorianne Hoover. Named to the All-Freshman Team from the Moccasins were Asper, Hoover, Ferree and Caitlin Chase.
The Moccasins posted a 12-4 record in their inaugural season, were nationally-ranked for much of the season, finishing at No. 14 in Division II and were ranked eighth in Division II in scoring offense and scoring defense.
