Mocs Stay In Second, Set Two School Records On Day Two Of SSC Meet
Allan Gutierrez set a school record in the 500 freestyleThe Moccasins set two school records and one meet record while maintaining their second place position on day two of the Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championship at The Long Center in Clearwater Thursday.
Allan Gutierrez set a school record with fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:32.12 Luis Rojas established a school mark and an automatic qualifying time in the 200-yard individual medley with his runner-up time of 1:49.01.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Jeb Halfacre, Miguel Ferreira, Gutierrez and Stephen Swan posted a meet-record and winning automatic qualifying time of 3:15.49. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Robbie Swan, Rojas, Alex Peterson and Stephen Swan was second in 1:22.44. Robbie Swan was fifth in 50-yard freestyle in 20.90.
Nova Southeastern remained in first place with a two-day total of 398 points. The Moccasins have 312.
Friday's events will be the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke. Finals are slated to get underway at 6 p.m. The meet continues through Saturday.
